I have often struggled to wake up early in the morning.
Of course, there is so much wisdom available out in the open that it is no secret to state that rising early in the morning gives you an edge in life.
So, let us get to know why we don’t end up doing what we deem to be right – waking up early in the morning!
#Not enough sleep in the night
Ask yourself this question.
“What is the reason that I can’t get up in the morning?”
You might have set the morning alarms to make you jump out of the bed. I know people who put multiple alarms. But when the alarm goes, you may be in a state of deep slumber where you feel that this is the best moment in your life. And if you got up, you will miss it forever! And therefore you decide to put off the alarm and jump back to bed.
If you put in a little more understanding into this, you will be able to decipher that your sleep was not enough to let you get up from bed. We humans need an average of 7 hours of sleep every day. So, ask yourself if you give an average of 7 hours to sleep every day.
#Quality of Sleep
Not just quantity but quality also matters. You need to be asleep for an average of 7 hrs. At the same time, it also matters how your sleep was. So, the next question is:
Did you sleep well?
Our sleep quality greatly suffers when we go to bed with unfinished things in mind. The unfinished things refer to an anxious mind. A worried mind. A mind that has already started thinking of tomorrow’s problems.
This is my personal experience that I was able to get very good quality of sleep within 5-6 hours sometimes when my ambience was super good – mentally and socially. So, another thing that may delay your sleep or even the quality of sleep is the social ambience.
# Having dinner like lunch
Overeating is another cause for not getting good sleep at night and therefore waking up late in the morning.
Many of us are in the habit of skipping our breakfast and occasionally lunch. When you wake up in the morning, you that it’s broad day light and you were supposed to be moving. So, you simply jump out of the bed and spring into action like a commando who is now out in a firefighting mode. But, you skip the process. You did not give enough time to yourself to get mentally and physically prepared for the day.
A heavy dinner may lead to the body physiology working overnight to digest the food. And this may obstruct the body systems from getting the adequate amount of rest and repair.
When we sleep, our body undergoes the cell and tissue repair process. During this process, the repair of cells and tissues take place. Waking up in the middle of this repairing process is like taking the car out of the garage while only half the servicing work is done.
So, obviously the body is not in the state that it will willing to get up from bed.
# Having an unpredictable day routine.
Due to the unpredictable lifestyle that we lead from day to day, it becomes difficult to build rhythm in our lives. The scientific term for this kind of rythm that I am referring to is – Circadian Rythm.
Circadian Rhythm is the time clock of our body. When the body has good circadian rhythm, all the physiological processes of the body take place at the same time every day. The body is able to feel hungry, sleepy etc exactly at the sane time every day. And so it can help you to get up early every day if you build a good circadian rhythm in your body
I practice it. What I have learned is having a daily routine well planned gets your mind and body in a comfortable position. And this helps the body to build and maintain it’s Rythm.
And this is what is going to keep you consistent with waking up early and waking up early every morning on a regular basis.
So, our lifestyle and routine needs meticulous planning like our office work and working on big projects.
