You gotta fight your battle.

There is the magic that you can discover in your morning run.

When I opened my eyes in the morning and looked out of the window, it was still dark outside. The world was sleeping. “No, No, I need to wait, It is dark and probably still far ahead of sunrise.”

I came back to my room and sat on the bed in that room of the Aditya lodge. My room is located on the first floor of the building and there is a narrow pathway through which I can move around. I switched on my mobile phone. It was 5:00 a.m.

The night was good. I had slept well. I had bumped into the bed after exhausting myself running for 10K in my new ASICS running shoes. When you are totally tired, your mind stops working. All the magnetic energy of the mind is converted into kinetic energy to run.

So on the days, you get up late, the whole world seems to have turned upside down.

I was feeling the pain surging on the left-hand side of my body.   My legs seemed to be heavy and not wanting to get out of the bed.

The reason for this unusual and uncomfortable morning was my last night.  When you don’t get enough sleep, you don’t feel any energy the next morning.  I was stuck at work and had returned home late at night. Maybe, the clock was 10 p.m. when I rang the bell.  And by the time, I went to bed, It was 05 mins past midnight.

In the morning, I opened my eyes to the morning sun at around 7:30 a.m.  I am always intent on getting up early in the morning.   Robin Sharma, in his book 5 am Club, who I like to read a lot says, “Morning Risers are Empire builders“.  I am fully convinced by the dictum.   In the early mornings, there is absolute quiet time – pin drop silence.  This morning quiet space when my kids are sleeping gives me time to engross myself to write my daily journal.   Its a habit now.  So, no matter what time I get up, I go to my desk and write.

Once they are wide awake, they want my company everywhere.  And I too feel the same.  So, I like to get my sons ready.  I like to give them a bath and play with them during that time.  They would play with water and make me irritated when the watch is showing the time and the nag coming from the other room.  “How long guys, how long!”.  But, we enjoy to our fullest before we come out.

I was not exactly feeling like running that day.  But, Running is an itch now. So, no matter, how bad I feel, my heart would be pumping me with the feelings of the run outside.  And I do feel like running than simply giving up.

It was 8:15 am by then.  Ripe time to move towards the other chores of the day.  However, I did what my heart told me to do – Run.  I got into my shoes and headed outside. Getting up from bed to getting outside is a struggle.   And every day there will be a different set of struggles.  The real win is not winning a marathon one day in a year.  The real win is getting up against all the odds and making it to the start line.

We all can win when we have the heart of a winner.   What kind of struggles do you face on a daily basis? Please share in the comments below.
